New (white) Xbox
by protious on Nov.29, 2008, under Blog Entry
I decided that I would get anothere 360 so that I can be fair on my reviews. I am going to keep my eye on craigslist for a cheap tv so that the gaming can happen in the confines of my room or basement.

Never going out on black friday again!
by protious on Nov.28, 2008, under Blog Entry
I made the mistake of thinking about going out and about on black friday to try and get my xbox 360 replaced. Never am I going to leave the house to go any where except work and maybe a couple of friends houses on black friday! The xbox will be exchanged, I decided to wait till monday to make sure that I don’t have to wait for hours to get it exchanged.
Xbox 360 broken
by protious on Nov.28, 2008, under Blog Entry, Cool Links, RSS Feeds From The Net
I recently went and purchased a xbox360 at game stop here in town, it was a used 360 elite and looked like it was in good shape. Well today I found out that was not true. Was playing Co-Op mode with a friend when I noticed that the graphics were getting distorted and choppy, also there was a red tint to the game which I had seen before when working at a lan center and the video card was about to go out in a machine. So on black friday I am going to venture into the wilderness and get either another 360 elite, or my money back so I can buy a new 360. This little miss hap would turn most people straight to wanting to get cash back seeing that I have only played about 5 hours of games total on the system.. But I am willing to try again.

Thank You Neti pot!!
by protious on Nov.25, 2008, under Blog Entry
I ussually dont endorse things unless I really beleive in them, Neti pot is one of the things that I do stand behind! I am not going to get into the details, but basically it is a nasal wash system that works! As I have been sick the past couple days, my girlfriend suggested that I try the product. After listening to how it sounded like torture, I gave it a try any way and boy was I suprised. I guess it could be seen as torture, but the results made it undeniable. Less to no sniffing what so ever and a better sence of healt. So go ahead try it!!
another day in heaven
by protious on Nov.21, 2008, under Blog Entry
Today was a great day, I was given my scores from the first 2 days of work and was pleasantly suprised at how well I did overall. there are some areas that should be worked on but that will happen over time. I am really trying hard to update the site daily, and with this little program that I found, it is becoming a lot easier to do so, for those who have a g1 you really should check out wpToGo. The phone is doing really great. so far no big issues and no bugs to report about.
I did it!

I passed the three weeks of grouling training for my job. So now I start doing my actual job on monday, now what that job is I can’t really say for safety reasons. Other than i support a kind of phone.
Making my Geek Home
by protious on Nov.14, 2008, under Announcements, Blog Entry
This article will take a couple of weeks to get fully finished.
The hardware
1 pc to serve the files for the network / storage web cam server, = Humvee
1 pc for the htpc / this may also be a Xbox 360 that has been modded to be able to view movies and play mp3’s and such. As well as surfing the net = Ninja 600es
1 pc for recording tv and fm channels and such, as well be a work station.
all connected via Cat 5e and a cisco switch, behind a linux firewall
That is it so far, will update more as I get it ready
Over the next couple weeks I am going to be writing the making of my geek house. At this time I am going to be gathering together all of my hardware and getting a few peices back up and running. A more thorough write up is in the works, and also some images.

Women turns tides on Riaa
by protious on Nov.06, 2008, under Blog Entry
I think I have just found my new hero. A 45 year-old single mother accused of stealing music on the internet (subsequently sued by the RIAA and vindicated) has now decided to turn the tables against her former accusers—by suing THEM for $5 million, citing conspiracy and illegal investigative practices.
Tanya Andersen alleges the way the RIAA goes pursuing people is illegal, that the way they pressure and threaten people to pay huge out-of-court settlements without first having to prove any wrongdoing is also illegal and investigative companies hired by record companies routinely violate people’s privacy by snooping through computers and private files without legal permission. Andersen herself alleges that she was threatened with “financial ruin” unless she immediately paid $5000.
The RIAA (of course) says that Andersen’s claims are false, that all they are doing is aggressively taking steps to protect their intellectual property. So who cares if a few innocent victims get caught in the crossfire, right? They’ve got all those billions of dollars to protect.

IT guys want you to know!

- If you ask me technical questions please don’t argue with me because you don’t like my answer. If you think you know more about the topic, why ask? And if I’m arguing with you…it’s because I am positive that I am correct, otherwise I’d just say “I don’t know” or give you some tips on where to look it up, I don’t have the time to just argue for the sake of it.
- Starting a conversation by insulting yourself (i.e. “I’m such an idiot”) will not make me laugh, or feel sorry for you; all it will do is remind me that yes, you are an idiot and that I am going to hate having to talk to you. Trust me; you don’t want to start a call that way.
- I am ok with you making mistakes, fixing them is my job. I am not ok with you lying to me about a mistake you made. It makes it much harder to resolve and thus makes my job more difficult. Be honest and we can get the problem resolved and continue on with our business.
- There is no magic “Fix it” button. Everything takes some amount of work to fix, and not everything is worth fixing or even possible to fix. If I say that you just need to re-do a document that you accidentally deleted 2 months ago, please don’t get mad at me. I’m not ignoring your problem, and it’s not that I don’t like you, I just cant always fix everything.
- Not everything you ask me to do is “urgent”. In fact, by marking things as “urgent” every time, you almost ensure that I treat none of it as a priority.
- You are not the only one who needs help, and you usually don’t have the most urgent issue. Give me some time to get to your problem, it will get fixed.
- Emailing me several times about the same issue in the same day is not only unnecessary, it’s highly annoying. Emails will stay until I delete them, I won’t delete them until I’m done with them. I will typically respond as soon as I have a useful update. If it is an urgent issue, let me know (see number 5).
- Yes, I prefer email over telephone calls. It has nothing to do with being friendly, it’s about efficiency. It is much faster and easier for me to list out a set of questions that I need you to answer than it is for me to call and ask you them one by one. You can find the answers at your leisure and while I’m waiting I can work on other problems.
- Yes, I seem blunt and rude. It’s not that I mean to, I just don’t have the time to sugar coat things for you. I assume we are both adults and can handle the reality of a problem. If you did something wrong, I will tell you. I don’t care that it was a mistake, because it really makes no difference to me. Don’t take it personal, I just don’t want it to happen again.
- And finally, yes, I can read your email, I can see what web pages you look at while you are at work, yes, I can access every file on your work computer, and I can tell if you are chatting with people on an instant messenger or chat room (and can also read what you are typing). But no, I don’t do it. It’s unethical, I’m busy, and in all reality you aren’t all that interesting. So unless I am instructed to specifically monitor or investigate your actions, I don’t. There really are much more interesting things on the internet than you.
A week with the Phone
by protious on Nov.06, 2008, under Blog Entry
So far the phone is still blowing my mind. I was talking with Chris Pirillo last night via email about the phone and decided to use the phone to send the messages. At first it did seam to be a little tedious, but after a short period I was able to get the keyboard mastered or at least make fewer mistakes. Here is the email I sent to him.
The question was, what do I think of the G1
The phone over all is perfect for giving the I phone a run for its money IMO. Loved how when I first started it it asked for my gmail user and pass then it pulled the contacts from my sim and added the contacts that are in my gmail list together. This has made things so easy. The ability to use the market which is the equivelent to the app store is awesome as well. There are more free apps then non - free at this time which is another awesome feature. The fact that it can support hd microsd sold me on the phone as well. Gps works great, I have noticed that the built in compus is a little off so I am not trusting it at this time. Battery life is great as well, my previous phone (tmobile shadow) had big issues with battery life even with little use durring the day, the g1 seems to do everything and still always seems to have power. The keyboard has taken some time to get used to but all in all it is a great phone and I think we are going to see even better phones to come from google and htc..
That’s what I think.
Have a good night and much luck with the cnn broadcast. I won’t be able to see it as I will be at work ![]()
And great music tonight…
Message sent to you via my g1

November already!
by protious on Nov.02, 2008, under Blog Entry
At the time of this post it has already been a weird november. I went to church to my nephews baptism, which I am not sure how I feel about babies being baptised but that is another post all together. And I also went flying today and just couldn’t seem to find any thermals at the park. And if I did find one it was just enough to hold my plane at altitude, not going up any at all. I am going to keep surfing the net and look for some cool stuff till my usual bed time

Zombie attack plan!
by protious on Nov.02, 2008, under Blog Entry
Saw a website post a question on what is your zombie attack plan. well let me think mine up and I will post it..
Ok so here is what I have so far.
Step One: Recognize the issue!
If people are walking around and looking not too healthy, and are trying to eat you or loved ones then this is the time to act!
Step Two: Put defence plans into action.
Start trying to find any weapon that you can, Guns, knives, swords. large City busses or vehicles that can run over zombies that cross your path. Gather friends and family.
Step Three: Find some high ground or a safe building.
i have scoped out the local shopping center as where I am gonna take up refuge. There are plenty of gas stations, walmart for some supplies as well as lowes for making some bariers around the premisis. Also there is sports mans, as it sounds like, a sporting goods store full of goodies such as bows and arrows, guns knives and lots of ammo. This area takes care of most of the needs for quiet some time. Also there is a radio shack for getting a cb radio for communications just in case.
This is all for now.
update via the g1
by protious on Nov.01, 2008, under Blog Entry
The g1 has been blowing my mind over the past couple days. Still in the learning and customization phase. It seems to do well updating the site, and video playback when using the wifi connection is beautiful. Also had a test in class and got a 98%…
Well night all!!!
After a night with the G1
by protious on Oct.30, 2008, under Blog Entry
I am unbelievably happy with the G1 at this time, The battery life seems to be descent and the ways I can use it are just crazy. As a ssh client, remote for my media center pc, intergrates with google and all my mail, calander, contacts and all that stuff! I have the flashlight app, as well as a bunch of others.
accuweather - Weather
gpstracker - Keep track of you and buds, let you know if you are close by
budgetdroid - Budget app
connectbot - SSH client
Shop Savvy - scan barcodes with the camera and get prices on books, and just about anything that has a barcode, great way to comparison shop!!!!
Bartender - Great little app for finding how to make drinks
flashlight - need i say it?
gmote - technically remote desktop
orienteer - Uses gps to show a compass
minispace - astroids type game
pacman - DUH!
tunes remote - can control itunes and a couple other
And the great thing about all these apps is that they are all FREE!!!!! The in call sound is great, and even though I am only able to get on edge networks right now due to no availability of 3g in the area, this phone is rediculously quick on getting apps and all other data. Good work HTC on great looking hardware, Good work on an awesome OS google! And who ever cam up with the ability to select if a contact goes directly to voicemail, YOU ROCK!!!!!!
That is all for now, Tah Tah all
